Carles Buïgas i Sans (18 January 1898 in Barcelona – 27 August 1979 in Cerdanyola del Vallès) was a Catalan architect, engineer, inventor and author.

Biography
Buïgas was born into an educated family in Barcelona, the son of the architect Gaietà Buïgas. When he was seven, his family moved to Montevideo (Uruguay) but returned to Barcelona in 1910.
In 1916, he entered the School of Industrial Engineers of Barcelona; he did not graduate, but he started to work as an assistant for the Exhibition of Electrical Industries of Barcelona. Later he continued to study at the École de Civil Génie in Paris.
